Huron County Jail Overview

Huron County Jail is operated by the Huron County Sheriff's Office at the Shady Lane Drive law-enforcement campus in Norwalk. The sheriff's official biography identifies Sheriff Todd J. Corbin as the county sheriff. It is the only detention facility physically identified in the facility map for this project. It is a county jail, not an ODRC state prison, and it is not a federal or ICE detention facility. Adults arrested in Huron County may be booked there by the sheriff's office or by local police agencies.

The jail population can include people waiting for court, people with local sentences, people listed with Common Pleas or municipal court matters, and people awaiting transfer after sentencing or another agency hold. The public roster supports that mix by showing court names, disposition terms, bail, next court dates, and release date fields. The strongest official facility numbers come from the 2025 ODRC full-service jail inspection. The report states that Huron County Jail had 134 actual general housing beds and 134 recommended beds. These figures are an inspection snapshot, not an annual average.

If the name is not listed, the person may not have been booked yet, may have been released, may be in another county, or may have moved to state, federal, or immigration custody.

2. Check the run date and time at the top of the roster.
3. Use browser find for the last name because the roster has no search box.
4. Compare middle name, charge, court, book date, and next court date before assuming a match.
5. Call the jail at 419-668-1996 when the result is time-sensitive or unclear.

Visit Huron County Jail Inmates

The sheriff's jail page states that Huron County Jail offers video visitation instead of in-person visitation. Visits must be registered and scheduled through ICSolutions or through the public lobby kiosk. Registered visitors must be 18 or older. Visitors ages 10 through 18 must be registered under and visit with a parent or guardian. Visits can be scheduled up to two weeks ahead and not less than 24 hours before the visit.

Those are statewide standards and inspection findings, not a promise that a specific program is available on a given day.
